Search Responses

The Search page allows you to easily find specific information within your survey results. You can search through open-text answers or jump straight to a specific respondent by their ID.

This tool is accessed from the menu on the left-hand side of the Analyze page.

Search Options

There are two primary ways to search your responses:

  • Respondent ID: If you know the specific ID of a respondent, you can paste it into the search bar to jump directly to their response and open it immediately.
  • Text/Keywords: You can search for specific words or phrases used in open-ended answers. When searching by text, you can refine your search using the options below the search bar:
    • Any word: Finds responses containing any of the words entered.
    • All words: Finds responses containing every word entered.
    • Exact phrase: Finds responses containing the exact string of text entered.

Filtering Your Search

You can further narrow down your text search results using the drop-down filters:

  • Question: Isolate your search to look only within a specific survey question.
  • Collector: Filter responses based on how they were collected (e.g., Default Web Link, Email Invitation).
  • Time: Restrict your search to a specific timeframe, such as Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, or This Month.
  • Status: Filter by the completion status of the response, allowing you to view Completed or Partial responses.

Managing Results

Once you have generated a list of matches, you have several options for viewing and managing the data:

  • Grouping and Sorting: You can choose to view individual Matches or group the results By respondent. You can also change the sorting order (e.g., Newest first) and adjust the number of results displayed per page (up to 100).
  • Viewing Details: Clicking on a specific response will open a sidebar displaying the full response details. From here, you can navigate to the full response view, view respondent details, create a new Case, or manage the response (Export, Edit, Delete).
  • Exporting: If you need to take your search results offline, you can use the Export matches (CSV) button to download the data.
